You were a tall mountain of a man that could easily be seen and recognized from all corners of the world. You epitomized resilience and selflessness. Thank you for teaching us, that humanity has unlimited capabilities to achieve progress and make the world a better place for all irrespective of their color and/or creed. Your death has united all humanity across the globe YET this is not enough for it is a temporally gesture SINCE you stood for REAL VALUES of unity in diversity, equality and justice. With those values we surely would have a better world.
More of you we continue to learn from testimonies and your words of wisdom.
Clinton told CNN he once asked Mandela how he managed to emerge
from prison in the proper frame of mind to become his country's
president.
"He said, I was breaking rocks about 11 years into my prison term
and I realized they had already taken so much from me. I had been
physically and mentally abused. I had been deprived of seeing my
children grow up. It ultimately destroyed my marriage.
"He said, 'I realized they could take every single thing away from
me except my mind and my heart. Those things I would have to give them.
And I decided not to give them away."
Mandela at the Rivonia Trial Pretoria Supreme Court (20 April 1964)
"During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the
African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have
fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a
democratic and free society in which all persons will live together in
harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to
live for. But, my lord, if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am
prepared to die".
What a great man and mind!
The world should remember
all the good that you stood for and this is what many have pledged BUT your passion for justice, education for all and the fight
against poverty if championed would be a handsome reward to your inspirational
effort.
